The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in Mexico have announced the arrest of three people in connection with the the dismantling of a criminal cell operating in Puerto Vallarta cell belonging to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

The PGR said in a statement that a joint operation involving the Mexican Army and Federal Police resulted in the arrest of three alleged members of the criminal organization along with the seizure of a cache of high calibur weapons.

The head of the Specialized Investigation of Crimes Against Health PGR, Elizabeth Hernandez Unit, said in a press conference that intelligence gathering identified a training camp located near the town of Las Palmas, in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, run by a group of heavily armed people.

During the raid, the armed men opened fire on security agents, who managed to repel the attack. “The suspects relized they were outnumbered and the aggressors fled,” Hernandez said.
