The War on Drugs was actually a political tool used to criminalize leftist anti-war protesters and black people, according to a new report by Dan Baum for Harper's Magazine.

In the report, Baum points to a 1994 interview with President Richard Nixon’s domestic policy chief, John Ehrlichman, who admitted Nixon’s harsh anti-drug policy was a front to punish Nixon’s political enemies, which mainly included “hippies” and “black people”.

We look at the racist motives behind Nixon’s drug war on the Lip News with Nik Zecevic and Margaret Howell.
