Half of Internet Plans in Mexico Offer Over 10 Mbps telecompaper

Of the 14 standalone internet plans in Mexico, 21 percent include speeds of below 10 Mbps, 29 percent include a speed of 10 Mbps, and 50 percent include speeds of over 10 Mbps, according to a study by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT).

Among fixed telephony plans, 71 percent include unlimited local calls, 40 percent include unlimited long-distance international calls and 14 percent include unlimited calls to mobile numbers. Of the 36 standalone pay-TV plans, 22 percent include 50 TV channels or less, 44 percent include between 51 and 100 channels, while 33 percent include over 100 channels.

The figures are included in a report designed to help end-users choose service plans. The data, which also includes double- and triple-play plans, is based on offers available up to early March.

The IFT also offers an online tool for consumers to compare offers.
