Mana Launch Ethical Fashion Line to Aid Eco-Charity
In addition to creating hits like Manda una senal and Bendita tu luz, bandmembers Fher Olvera, Alex González, Sergio Vallín and Juan Calleros are well known for their political and environmental activism.
To raise funds for their eco-charity, the Selva Negra Foundation, the group have launched their own range of apparel Ritos del Sol.
They also hope their clothing line will help to promote Mexico's garment industry as an ethical manufacturer in Puebla will produce the clothes.
"We've devoted a lot of time to the creation of Ritos del Sol," said Mana founding member, Fher. "We're proud that it's being produced in our native Mexico and thrilled to be launching in the U.S. market, where we have many fans who love our music and commitment to conservation and world harmony."
Mana's members spent two years helping design the clothes, which reference the band's history, their environmental interests, as well as including Mexican symbols like the skulls seen during the country's Day of the Dead festival.
The brand's jeans are available for $58, T-shirts will sell for between $25 to $30 , with a percentage of the revenue earned going towards turtle conservation.
