Mangroves Trip with Linkin Park and Pro Surfers Koa Rothman and Koa Smith (Music For Relief)

Linkin Park band members, Rob Bourdon and Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell, visited Magdalena Bay, Mexico to learn about the Mangroves conservation project.

Music for Relief, which is a non-profit organization founded by Linkin Park in 2005, launched the project one year ago.

In a collaboration with WILDCOAST, the project focuses on conserving 61 miles of mangroves in Magdalena Bay.

Mangroves are plants that store underground carbon, and they also provide fish for both people and sealife. Its destruction would release thousands of years worth of stored carbon into the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the mangroves are in danger due to oil spills, climate change, chemical pollution, and more.

That is why Linkin Park and WILDCOAST are working to restore these wildlife habitats and protect the Magdalena Bay coast. Rob and Phoenix took a tour of the coast with pro surfers Koa Smith and Koa Rothman to see the mangroves firsthand.
