Americans living in Mexico say they're backing Clinton for president in the light of Donald Trump's atittude towards their adopted home. Paul Chapman reports. (Reuters)

San Miguel de Allende is home to large numbers of expat Americans lured by mild climate, cosmopolitan atmosphere and affordable property prices. Up to 19,000 of its 140,000 population are Americans who live here permanently or part-time.

Presidential elections back home don't normally interest them all that much. Now they say they're feeling extremely uncomfortable given the repeated references to Mexico, particularly by Republican contender Donald Trump and his plans for a wall along the border.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll put Clinton five percentage points ahead of Trump, down slightly since the FBI last week said it was reviewing more emails in its investigation of Clinton.
