Mexicans have showcased their carving talents during the annual Night of the Radishes festival.
The 199th edition of the festival held in Wahaka included carving Aztec figures from kings and patron saints to a full Mariachi band of radishes.
Every year hundreds of locals and tourists gather at the town plaza to see farmers skillfully cut, peel, carve and grate radishes to form religious scenes or celebrity figures.
The radishes used in the festival are grown to be larger than normal, with some growing as heavy as 3 kilograms and up to half a meter long. The gourds are usually harvested about 3 days in advance and shared by all contributing farmers.
