Mexican nightlife in the 70s and 80s was dominated by one group of women: the ficheras (meaning cabaret or bar hostess in Mexico).

During those decades, the spotlight was on exotic “Beauties of the Night” like Sasha Montenegro, Olga Breeskin, Lyn May, Princesa Yamal, Wanda Seux and Rossy Mendoza – Mexican starlets who positioned themselves as the symbols of sensuality for the time.

With the passing of time, these goddesses of cabaret life passed from glory to decadence. Left in oblivion, the women are now practically unknown to younger generations.

However, the exotic quality of these nocturnal ladies and Mexican cabarets is getting a revival with the documentary Beauties of the Night. Directed by María José Cuevas, the documentary presents life after the success of these legendary stars that defined the nightlife of that time.
