The Babadook is from Jennifer Kent’s 2014 horror film about a suburban Australian woman’s grief. Her son begins telling her that a monster named the Babadook entered their home through a children's book, and she soon realizes that it's more than just her child's imagination.

The Babadook was miscategorized as an LGBT movie on Netflix, but social media doesn’t care and the memes started to flow.

The Babadook as gay icon is along the lines of Cher and Judy Garland and is obviously super tongue-in-cheek but that doesn’t stop people from showing images of the monster as a gay hero due to gay pride month in June.
