Optometry Giving Sight - Background information (Optometry Giving Sight)

Optometry Giving Sight announced that the 2017 World Sight Day Challenge will run through World Sight Day on Oct. 12.

The group said in a press release that it is pleased to be supporting the Ver Bien para Aprendor Mejor (See Well to Learn Better) program in Mexico. This well established and respected campaign will screen more than 4 million children throughout 2017, according to the release.

As part of the fundraiser’s support for Our Children’s Vision, Optometry Giving Sight will fund projects that give sight and hope to more than 1 million children in 2017.

According to the organization, 10% of children in public schools in Mexico have refractive errors.

For the past 10 years, thousands of optometrists, staff members, patients, students and colleagues in the industry have donated to the World Sight Day Challenge by making a tax-deductible donation or by raising funds, according to the release.

“It’s simple and fun to do,” according to Clive Miller, global CEO of Optometry Giving Sight, in the release. “We have material to help promote your involvement, lots of fun fundraising ideas and information that you can share that shows how your donations are having an impact on the lives of children in need.”
