QUINTANA ROO - Family Development Agency (DIF) President Mariana Zorrilla de Borge this week presented an informative pamphlet for breast cancer patients that will be distributed throughout the state.
Zorrilla de Borge said that the pamphlet is intended to inform patients and their family members about the illness, including ways to improve patient’s lives during and after treatment.
“The manual was written by oncologists, support groups and physical rehabilitation specialists, using a simple and accesible methodology for women in Quintana Roo and around the country,” she said.
Zorrilla de Borge added, “Preventative measures are (always) an option in the treatment of the illness. Today, breast cancer is the leading cause of death in Mexico, and for that reason it is necessary to have information about the illness if detected early enough, it is curable.”
The DIF president went on to say that the agency is working with the state government, the Health Secretariat (SSA) and public and private institutions to prioritize women’s health care in Quintana Roo.
She said that breast cancer awareness campaigns are part of the Quintana Roo 2011-2016 Plan, in which Governor Roberto Borge Angulo has placed families at the center of his public policies.
