SILAO, Guanajuato - As he led the opening ceremony of the Volkswagen Engine Plant, the company's 100th in the world, President Enrique Peña Nieto stated the government's commitment to being a great ally "of all that productive investment, which creates jobs and opportunities for Mexicans," and to large investors and those who have important projects to develop in Mexico.
We want to be partners and facilitators, so that these investments can be productive and the projects that are developed in our country come to fruition, he added.
He said that a clear signal of this alliance, particularly with the automotive sector, is that just a few days after the beginning of this administration "we reached an agreement with the government of Argentina to reopen car production in our country to that market, which had recently been closed."
After pointing out that more markets will continue to be opened up for Mexican products, the president declared that the automotive industry and other sectors "will have a very encouraging and promising scenario in Mexico" that will expand opportunities for individual development for all Mexicans.
He emphasized the fact that among the five major national goals of his administration is "what to do with a prosperous Mexico, which means making sure that in the coming years the country will have more growth and better economic performance so the benefits that this national wealth will provide will be extended to more Mexicans."
The Mexican president declared, "We are appropriating the global experience that other countries have already done," which clearly shows that it is through economic growth that it will be possible to expand opportunities for individual development for all Mexicans on the basis of the different instruments that the state has also designed to ensure better wealth distribution.
He added that his government is committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability, which will make it possible to establish public policies.
He noted that the opening in this municipality of Volkswagen's 100th company in the world proves and testifies to the confidence in our country. He hailed the company's investment of over US$550 million in this plant, and the investment it will make throughout North America in the coming years of US$5 billion, "Where I'm sure Mexico will represent an option for greater investment."
The President repeated his commitment to state authorities to work hand in hand to develop projects that will benefit Mexicans. "The goal of my government is to work closely with local authorities in the effective coordination of efforts to enable us to expand our capacity to trigger greater benefits for Mexicans," he said.
