The recent reactor meltdowns in Japan have ignited passionate worldwide debate about energy and the future of nuclear power. Pandora’s Promise is a feature-length documentary that explores how and why mankind’s most feared and controversial technological discovery is now passionately embraced by many of those who once led the charge against it.

The film is anchored around the personal narratives of a growing number of leading former anti-nuclear activists and pioneering scientists who, in the face of considerable controversy, are directly challenging the anti-nuclear orthodoxy that is a founding tenet of the mainstream environmental movement.

Their stories and ideas will be brought to life through a combination of incredible archival footage from 1945 to the present and original filming across the globe.

Operating as history, cultural meditation and contemporary exploration, Pandora’s Promise aims to inspire a serious and realistic debate over what is without question the most important question of our time: how do we continue to power modern civilization without destroying it?

Cast: Stewart Brand, Gwyneth Cravens, Mark Lynas, Michael Shellenberger, Richard Rhodes, Charles Till, and Len Koch.

Production Team:

Robert Stone: Producer/Director/Cinematographer – An Oscar and Emmy nominated director and a two-time Sundance Grand Jury Prize finalist. He is one of America’s most acclaimed documentarians, known best for “Radio Bikini”, Guerrilla: The Taking of Patty Hearst”, “Oswald’s Ghost”, and “Earth Days”.

Don Kleszy: Editor - A long-time collaborator with Robert Stone having edited or co-edited five his documentaries. He also works in New York as a commercial editor and animation supervisor. His clientele has run the gamut from Nam Jun Paik to M&M’s candy.

Gary Lionelli: Composer - Gary is an Emmy Award winning composer whose acclaimed work spans documentaries, television series (including the new HBO series “Luck” produced by Michael Mann) and feature films.

Coll Anderson: Sound Design - Coll is one of the independent film world’s most sought after sound designers, having created the sound tracks for dozens of award winning films and Sundance hits with directors ranging from Errol Morris to Sam Mendes and Lars Von Trier.

Pandora’s Promise is three years in the making and has been filmed on four continents. It is has been selected to premier at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival http://filmguide.sundance.org/film/13078/pandoras_promise in January. It is scheduled for US cinema release in the summer of 2013.
