The signs say, "Don't criminalize deported immigrants. Treated like foreigners in their own land."

Around 70,000 deported people per month are sent from the United States to Baja California, said the secretary of Social Development, Pablo Alejo López Núñez.

He added that these are the highest numbers on Mexico's Northern border strip, speaking at the Regional Immigration Forum in Mexicali.

He explained that although Baja California is one of the entities which receives the most resources, with the adjustments the Federal government is preparing in matters of the budget, he does not now know how this will affect the future of immigration matters.

"But, we will maintain vigilance, now that the number of immigrants continues increasing and it will be necessary to have a larger budget, "he said.

There are 100,000 immigrants, he said, and the number continues increasing.

The secretary said that the resources to Immigration have decreased in all the country, not just in Baja California. He hopes that, at the least, it will be the same as in 2012 so as to render support as they have been doing.
