Bryan Reyes, one of the 14 accused for the riots last December 1 as part of the inauguration of Enrique Peña Nieto, was sentenced to two years, six months and 15 days in prison.
Criminal Judge 13 determined that the youth is criminally responsible for the crime of attacks on the public peace that are considered not grave, after the Federal District [Mexico City] Legislative Assembly amended Article 362 of the Criminal Code of the Federal District [reducing the maximum sentence from 5 to 30 years to 2 to 5 years].
Bryan Reyes is the first of 14 people under charges to receive a sentence. He was also the first to leave the North Prison on December 27, after PRD federal deputies, Roberto López Suárez and José Luis Muñoz Soria, ... offered to pay his bail bond.
Each of the 14 arrested for attacks on public peace were charged with six thousand pesos [$US472] bail, while Bryan Reyes had to pay a fine and reparation for the crime of damage to property which totaled 69 thousand pesos [US$5,429].
... Reyes was notified of the decision on Tuesday and immediately his relatives expressed their disagreement with the sentence because they believe that there is insufficient evidence to determine that Bryan is criminally responsible.
The cases of the 13 people remaining under criminal charges - 12 men and one woman - are in Criminal Court 47. They are: Oved Palagot Echeverría, biologiy student at UNAM; Roberto Fabián Duarte García, 38 years old; Stylianos García Vackimes, 30 year old; shoeshine boy César Llaguno; the student Oswaldo Rigel Barrueta Herrera; Alejandro Lugo Moran, 34 years old, and the nursing student Rita Emilia Nery Moctezuma.
