On Wednesday, as president of Mexico and the husband of a great woman, I am confident that we have taken a step towards achieving the Inclusive Mexico we have set as a goal.

My wife Angélica was appointed Chair of the Citizens’ Advisory Board for the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF). With this new honorary responsibility, I’m sure she will give the best of herself: her ability and passion for protecting and encouraging Mexicans who need it most.

Angelica and I are convinced that the family is the basis of unity and identity among Mexicans, which is why DIF has focused on this. It is essential that we strengthen the institution of the family as an axis of development and welfare.

By strengthening family bonds of unity, trust and affection, we create solid foundations to move Mexico. I have every confidence that DIF will usher in a new era of social welfare in our country. We will therefore begin a new era on behalf of an inclusive Mexico.

I wish my wife every success in this new responsibility and all those who comprise DIF. I know that they will fulfill their commitments and meet their commitments to Mexico.
