Life Insurance for Women Heads of Household an Action of Social Justice: Pena Nieto Presidency of the Republic

Mexico City - Yesterday, President Enrique Pena Nieto presented the Insurance Program for Women Heads of Household, a social justice action to benefit those who are most vulnerable, which, together with other actions, “Will allow us to move Mexico on behalf of a great cause, that of Mexican families.”

He stressed that this new generation program is designed to shape the society of rights that Mexico deserves and should have. “It is an ethical action by the Mexican state to ensure that those with the greatest social disadvantages and poverty have a minimum income and welfare,” he said.

He thanked the women who head one out of every four households in Mexico, “For their courage, ability and dedication, not only to their personal projects but because they are the axis and basis of support for their families.”

Accompanied by his wife, Angelica Rivera de Peña, President of the Citizens Advisory Board of the National DIF System, the President said the Insurance Program for Women Heads of Household will begin in the municipalities covered by the National Campaign against Hunger and involve an investment of 400 million pesos this year, which will increase over the next few years.

Rural municipalities will be attended first, followed by those in urban areas, and eventually universal coverage will be achieved nationwide.
