The Comprehensive Front of Peasant Farmers will be announced today with the goal of creating a "genuine" dialogue with the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto and influencing the development of public policies for the countryside, as part of the National Development Plan of this administration.
The leader of the Coalition of Urban and Rural Democratic Organizations (CODUC), Marco Antonio Ortiz, said that with the passage of more than one hundred days of the current administration, it is necessary to begin to see results in the modernization and reform of the rural financing system and an increase in the productivity and marketing of food, which so far has not happened.
According to Ortiz, the Front will be composed of seven agricultural organizations, whose common goal is to reach "an agreement to transform the Mexican countryside into more productive activity, which is a fundamental premise of the Pact for Mexico."
In addition to CODUC, the peasant organizations that agreed to make up the Front are: the Independent Center of Agricultural Workers and Peasants (CIOAC); the National Integrative Union of Organizations for Solidarity and Social Economy (Unimoss); El Barzón, the National Union of Autonomous Regional Peasant Organizations (UNORCA); the National Union of Agricultural Workers (UNTA); and the National Coordinating Committee of the Plan of Ayala-National Movement (CNPA-MN).
