CUERNAVACA - On the second anniversary of the death of his son, Juan Francisco, the poet Javier Sicilia made a new appeal to stop the violence generated in Mexico by the war against drug trafficking initiated by Felipe Calderón.

In the morning, Sicilia led the planting of a tree in the village of Ocotepec, in memory of the murders committed two years ago in this city, when Luis Antonio, Julio César, Gabriel, Álvaro and María del Socorro were murdered along with Sicilia's son. During the event, which also marked the second anniversary of the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (MPJD), new cases of killings and disappearances in Morelos were presented.

The poet demanded a change in the strategy of the drug war and stressed the importance of having a more humanistic plan for protection of victims.

Later in the day in Mexico City, dozens of victim members of MPJD held an event at the Stele of Light and demanded that President Enrique Peña Nieto transform it into a Victims Memorial.
