To mark the centenary of the Enactment of the Guadalupe Plan, the Mexican Postal Service issued a stamp commemorating the signing of the manifesto that proclaimed the ideals of the movement to restore the constitutional order.
A total of 200,000 stamps with a cost of seven pesos were issued, which will go on sale at the offices of the decentralized body of the Secretariat of Communications and Transport.
The stamps were issued in the former Hacienda of Guadalupe, in the town of Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, where Venustiano Carranza signed the Guadalupe Plan in 1913.
The design of the stamp includes a photograph of Venustiano Carranza when he left Saltillo to take up arms against the government of Victoriano Huerta.
The commemorative stamps are used for correspondence and shipments, but are also a very popular among stamp collectors. The issue is accompanied by an envelope on the first day of issue and a card containing the stamp and a brief explanation of the commemoration.
