Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico powered by American Express (americanexpressMX)
More than twenty runway shows from a bevy of young and seasoned design talents were featured at the just concluded thirteenth edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico (MBFWM).
Clothing label Covalín Pineda, owned by designer duo Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalín, opened the four-day-long event with its latest autumn-winter 2013 collection. Decorated with colourful prints and Mexican haute couture details, the line highlighted feminine silhouettes on a range of asymmetrically cut transparent apparels.
Created by the brand’s designer Felipe Oliveira, the casual collection included pants, dresses, sweaters, blouses and jackets in cheerful shades of red, yellow, electric blue, beige and pink. Made of cotton, cashmere and silk, the straight lined smooth textured ensembles were decorated with sailor stripes and diamond shapes.
An alumnus of London College of Fashion, designer Alexia Ulibarri featured an intricately detailed collection replete with diamante. Made of tulle, silk and lace, her spectacular line was a mixture of voluminous mini and maxidresses.
