In August 2010, Vanguard correspondent Christof Putzel sought to document the illegal crossing of migrants from Mexico into the U.S. (Current)

A hike along the dangerous route of emigrants at the border of the states of Sonora, in Mexico and Arizona, in the United States, will be carried out for seven days, starting on Tuesday, according to a report circulated today.

Around 50 people will hike in the 10th edition of this march of solidarity that it is carried out annually.

The route will start in the city of Sasabe, Sonora, and will conclude in the city of Tucson, Arizona, said the newspaper El Tiempo Latino.

Kat Rodriguez, representative of the Human Rights Coalition in Arizona said in a communique that "we are with the emigrants for the 10th consecutive year, and demand to stop tragic deaths along the border between Mexico and the United States."

The activists said that thousands of men, women and children have died on this route, due to policies that have forced them to go through the most isolated and hostile crossings in the desert.

That coalition considers that more than 6,000 emigrants have died along the border from 1990 to the current year, said the text in El Tiempo Latino.
