The second annual Surf Open Acapulco gets underway next week on the punchy Mexican beach break at Revolcadero Beach. The only question now: Will they get big waves?

The July 2-7 event, hosted by the Fairmont Acapulco Princess will feature surfers from 12 countries who will compete for $100,000 in prizes. The contest is sanctioned by the Assn. of Surfing Professionals (ASP).

Considered a good training ground for up-and-coming talent, the competition has four-star status, giving young surfers a chance to establish a name on a global scale by earning points to compete in the ASP six-star and prime-rated events.

... The Surf Open Acapulco will feature a variety of events and activities including concerts, art exhibits, motocross exhibitions, fashion shows and more.
