Dating violence represents one of the most serious social problems that the country currently faces. Official data shows that 76% of Mexican youth between 15 and 24 years of age has been the victim of psychological aggression in their relationships, 15.5% experienced incidents of physical violence and, in the case of women, and 16.5% experienced at least one sexual assault.
They are the ones that suffer the most in this stage of couple relationships. In accordance with the National Survey on Violence in Dating 2007, carried out by the Mexican Institute of Youth (Imjuve), the largest proportion of people who are subjected to physical assault are women (61.4%); in addition, they make up two thirds of those who reported having been forced to have sex by their boyfriends.
... The National Survey on the Dynamics of Relationships in the Homes 2011 showed that 25.6 % of the young, unmarried women ages 15 to 24 are facing emotional violence, followed by physical, sexual, and economic.
