MEXICO CITY - Mexico City's evening landscape will be completely transformed thanks to the spectacular International Festival of Lights or FILUX - Festival Internacional de las Luces taking place November 7 - 10. The event is a cultural initiative that brings together more than 80 local and international artists and experts, literally shedding light on energy saving issues. FILUX will feature numerous displays throughout the Historic Center of the City, including animated projections on building facades, lighting interventions, light sculptures, concerts, an artist competition and more.
Paying tribute to Mexico's rich history of muralism, the spectacles will use the same collective artistic expression by using lights projected on different spaces in the Historic Center such as Garibaldi Plaza, Plaza de la Conchita, Antiguo Colegio de San Idelfonso, the Light Museum and the Alameda Art Museum. The main massive projection will be on the City's Bella Artes, or Place of Fine Arts. The event is free and open to the public. Viewers are invited to tour the exhibit every night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. A few days before the exhibit, a complete guide will be available on the website www.filux.info/.
