In conjunction with the 2013 Bougainvillea Festival (Bugambilia Festival) in Puerto Vallarta, you are welcome to join the "Crowns of the Dead" Catrina Parade and Contest.
The start location will be Hidalgo Park where the parade will begin on Saturday, May 18, at 6:30 pm.
Leaving from this location, Catrinas followed by a procession of crowns of the dead, will travel along the malecon picking up more catrinas on the way.
Stops will be made in certain spaces for Catrinas to provide our spectators with an impressive performance.
The parade will then end at Lazaro Cardenas Park where the awards ceremony will take place for the best Catrina in Puerto Vallarta!!
All participants in the Catrina parade will have traditional face paintings and colourful costume designs! The colours will, of course, be predominantly black with great hats, fans, canes, umbrellas, gloves and elegant jewelry!
Who can get involved and how to get involved?!
• Men and women of all ages welcome
• All participants must be presented as catrinas!
• Dresses and Make-up
• Costumes, Paint and Accessories
• Must register in advance (Below)
• Registration is FREE!!
Prizes will be awarded to the two best performances of Catrinas!
Awards will be announced one week before the big event!!
