From November 25 to 29, Puerto Vallarta will present a tribute celebration for the 50 year anniversary of filming The Night of the Iguana, endorsing the value and exhibiting the great difference this movie and surrounding events have made in the major focus of collective identification for Vallarta.
The event is being organized by the University of Guadalajara (Centro Universitario de la Costa) through the University Center for Coastal and Regional School of Puerto Vallarta (Escuela Preparatoria Regional de Puerto Vallarta), where society, academics, private and governmental authorities will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film, which is a historical reference and cultural development of this region.
In this 50th anniversary, there will be a series of conferences, lectures, film screenings, exhibitions of pictures, audio and videos related to the filming of the movie The Night of the Iguana.
Locations to join in the celebration will be the Centro Universitario de la Costa in Ixtapa, Los Arcos on the Malecón, the Cuale Cultural Center on the "island" separating Downtown and Old Town Vallarta, and the Puerto Vallarta Public Library (Biblioteca Los Mangos).
