Wil Wagner, principal at West Leyden High School, is leading 45 students and ten staff members on a humanitarian mission to Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo, an orphanage in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico. The trips will be June 3 through June 9, 2014.

Because this is a humanitarian effort, Wagner and his group are raising funds for the orphanage, including the sale of 2000 tickets to the Cubs vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks’ game on Tuesday, April 22. The tickets are $15 each, available now in the main office at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Rd., Northlake. For more information about purchasing tickets and making a donation, please contact Wil Wagner at WWagner@leyden212.org and (847) 451-3154.

Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo was founded in 1993 by Maximo Cornejo, a wealthy hotel magnet based in Puerto Vallarta. Currently 45 children from the ages of 1 to 14 are living at the orphanage. Leyden’s goodwill ambassadors will be painting the facility and leading activity camps for the children.

“We started a Service Club this year with the purpose of including as many students as possible,” Wagner says. “The objective is to make service a priority, both at home and abroad. Casa Hogar is our first major project. Our goal is to raise three thousand dollars for the orphanage. We're grateful to those who help us meet our goal.”
