In order to continue the social policies that enable poor citizens to have better living conditions, the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Puerto Vallarta, chaired by Magaly Fregoso Ortiz, and the VOSH Northwest Foundation will provide 2,700 eye examinations and lens fitting to our citizens.

Miguel Angel Soto Barajas, Deputy Director of DIF, reported that on June 20 until June 25 that they will be offering the free clinic at the Centro de Capacitacion (Training Center) in the colony of Coapinole.

The support and professional volunteers from VOSH include optometrists and ophthalmologists. The VOSH Northwest Foundation works in countries worldwide in supplying free eye exams and glasses twice a year and this time we are lucky to have them in Puerto Vallarta.

VOSH Northwest was established in 1981 by optometric physicians Dr. Walt Michaelis and Dr. Robin Cameron. Together, they joined the network of eye care professionals in VOSH/International to serve the populations in need around the world. Since the first mission to Trinidad, VOSH Northwest has conducted over 50 missions to 14 countries and provided eye-care services to over 300,000 individuals in need.

Citizens who are interested in obtaining the free eye exams and glasses can go directly to the Programas del Sistema DIF Municipal with a copy of their voter card.

Thanks to the strong commitment of the current administration and the support of DIF and VOSH Northwest, our inhabitants are able to improve their living conditions.

Ed and Carole Rich of VOSH Northwest will be in Puerto Vallarta from June 18-28, 2014 and they will be leading the five-day mission. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Ed Rich at  ed@richaven.com.
