Eighth Edition of Banderas Bay Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament Team Angels - PVAngels

The Banderas Bay Sportfishing Club of Nuevo Vallarta has announced the Eighth Annual Marlin & Tuna Tournament 2014 to take place at the Paradise Village Marina on July 18 & 19.

This year, the Sportfishing Club has defined four different categories: the two that give this competition its name and that offer the most important prizes (Tuna and Marlin), along with Mahi Mahi and Sailfish.

Competitors can register in teams of up to four members per boat. Only non-electronic rods and reels will be allowed with 130-pound test lines and simple bait. The team enrollment fee is 7,000 pesos.

Winner will be defined by the weight of the catch in each category. In case of a tie, the first registered fish will win.

Included in the entry fee this year is the Fishing One Purse if you beat the previous record in the Marlin, Tuna and Sailfish categories. Also included is the Jackpot Purses for all categories.

On Friday, July 18, from 5:00 until 9:00 pm, there will be a Welcome Cocktail Registration and Enrollment at the Paradise Village Yacht Club, between the shopping mall and the hotel, in front of the pyramid.

The day of fishing will begin on Saturday, July 19, at 4:00 am with the opening ceremony, flag protocol and departures at the Paradise Village Marina. The fish reception at the Paradise Village Marina pier will be from 1:00 until 6:00 pm, followed by the Awards Ceremony at 6:30 pm in the amphitheater at the Paradise Village Marina.

Alberto Sanchez Cardinas, President of the Bahia de Banderas Sportfishing Club, says "We're waiting for you with the best catches of the entire Mexican Pacific; remember, we have the best record of Marlin since our 1st tournament with a catch of 710.54 lbs (322.300 kg) and in our second tournament, we had a 702 lb (318.400 kg) Marlin that we hope you can beat during this competition."

Marlin
• 1st Place - 60,000 pesos cash, Marlin Sculpture by Martyr Anodes, Costa del Mar Sunglasses & Visor 4 pack, a plaque for the boat and Don Roberto Tequila

Tuna
• 1st Place - 50,000 pesos cash, Tuna Sculpture by Martyr Anodes, Costa del Mar Sunglasses & Visor 4 pack, a plaque for the boat and Don Roberto Tequila

Mahi Mahi (Dorado)

Fishing One Purse - 20,000 pesos cash prize for the first fish beating the record of the bay
• Marlin record is 322.300 kgs (710.54 lbs)
• Tuna record is 176 kgs (388.01 lbs)
• Sailfish record is 70.600 kgs (155.03 lbs)

There will also be pools for the Marlin and Tuna prize of $200 US and sailfish and mahi mahi prizes of 500 pesos.
