American Legion PV Presents Medicare Advantage Program for Expats in Mexico

The American Legion Post 14 of Puerto Vallarta invites you to attend the General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 11:00 am, at Steve's Sports Bar.

Dr. Ian from Lakeside Medical will speak about various options for Veteran’s medical benefits along with Medicare Advantage program in Mexico.

Below is a short summary:

They are called Medicare Advantage programs. You see the ads all the time on TV by United Health Care, Humana, AARP, etc. They are privatized insurances but Medicare at the same time. Most plans require Medicare A and B. Rollover is easy and usually there is no increase in premiums but it all depends on the state where the patient has his/her Medicare out of.

They still have their Medicare in the USA just now through United Health Care, etc. The best ones we have worked with are UHC, Humana, AARP, BlueCross, Freedom, Kelsey but the options are based on the state.

There are many, many options. Most of them will cover urgent-emergent outside of the USA so that would be good to go in Mexico. I think we will be set up to handle patients in Puerto Vallarta for urgent-emergent in a few months. This is usually very broad coverage from bug bites and stomach aches to emergencies.

There is someone locally here who helps patients roll over. Let me speak with her and see how open she is to working with people in Puerto Vallarta. News at 11:00.

Steve's Sports Bar is headquarters for American Legion Post 14 and is located in Old Town Vallarta at Basilio Badillo 286.
