The new dates for the LGBT Writer's & Artist's Retreat now coincide with the Vallarta Pride Festival 2015. You'll arrive Monday May 18 and leave Monday May 25 2015.

LGBT writers, artists and friends will join together to celebrate gay pride in a special venue, Vallarta Pride Week.

This retreat will provide time for focusing on your art, whether it's writing, drawing, photography, acting, or ?.

We will also be making a documentary about the 2015 Vallarta Pride, so join us in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a safe week of exploring the depths of our creativity.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or photographer, a beginning writer working on your first novel, a poet polishing your collection, or just wanting to celebrate PRIDE WEEK in a beautiful setting, this retreat will give you the time, space, and inspiration to get on it.

Budding actors are encouraged to join us as well, as we will be filming the week for a documentary film. Participants may opt in or opt out of the film. Please contact us to discuss possible scholarships for the week for budding filmmakers, stars, and artists.

About the facilitator: Scott Gibson, holds Masters degrees in Writing and Poetics and Education. He has studied with Voice and Sound coach Paul Oertel, gaining knowledge of how to uncover the voice from within. He has utilized his skills as a teacher of writing with students of all ages to “get the creative juices flowing” with honesty, pride, and passion. Scott edited Blood & Tears: Poems for Matthew Shepard in 1999 and has recently publish a long poem entitled Sticked, Stoned & Bottled and his first novel Seeking MO.

We will stay at a private villa in the Zona Romantica area of Puerto Vallarta Mexico, directly “above” some of the best restaurants, bars, and beaches in the city. Zona Romantica hosts Mexico’s largest gay pride celebration which will be held while we’re there. I know! Too much fun! But we’ll try to get as much creative work done in the morning and early afternoons before the celebrations start! Or feel free to just celebrate your LGBT Pride.

The villa is the size of a small hotel, but WAY more comfortable, with large bedrooms (12), 14 bathrooms, a pool, rooftop deck, and a great staff that will keep you relaxed and focused on your art and having fun.

We will hold “workshopping” sessions in the morning and then you will be released to produce for the remainder of the day (or celebrate gay pride with the warm locals and visitors from all over Mexico and the world). Scott will offer a few optional evening writing mini lessons if there is interest. Scott also offers meditation instruction in the mornings (a GREAT way to start the day).

The cost of the retreat is $1995 to share a room with one other (two double beds in each room – your partner may come for 1/2 price if you share a bed) or $2695 for a private room (limited availability). The price includes two meals per day (leaving you a meal each day to try some of the local restaurants – you MUST partake in some of the local cuisine – YUM!) Snacks will be provided all day long. There is a $600 nonrefundable deposit due upon reserving your spot, with the remainder due by March 15. You must organize transportation on your own. Check in begins at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2015 and checkout is the following Monday at noon.
