Chester doing his imitation of a meerkat! |
Featured Feline: Chester
This beautiful orange Tabby kitten was discovered by a security guard in a condo complex in Old Town in January.
He seemed very people-friendly and had obviously been in a home at some point.
Resident Eve agreed to shelter him for the night while Jim & Wayne made a generous donation and he was soon in good hands in the PuRR nursery.
If you are a fan of orange kitties, we also have Murphy, Naranjo and Orlando who are looking for their Furr-ever Homes!

Beautiful fashions on beautiful models! |
Daiquiri Dick’s Fashion Show
Our annual Fashion Show & Brunch on January 27 was a HUGE success, putting enough pesos in the bank to support the shelter for a whole month this summer.
158 guests were treated to stunning fashions & accessories for both men and women from La Santa, Tonalli Tienda and Sucesos Boutique, and original jewelry by Artisans on Carranza.
Thank you to all our wonderful models, to our MC, Laura Gelezunas, to Tari Bowman and her amazing staff at Daiquiri Dick’s for again hosting this sold-out event. (…and to VallartaTickets.com, who posted that we were the top-selling single event of the year!)
And did I mention all the fantastic raffle prizes donated by local merchants?? Meow!
Dra. Eva with Bonnie Cretzman in the clinic. |
Gracias! Thanks! Merci! Grazie!
This past month we were fortunate to have visitors show up with suitcases filled with goodies for the shelter.
Bonnie Cretzman from Alberta, Canada, always surprises us and this year was no exception.
There were lots of toys for the cats and Dra. Eva was thrilled to have all the medicines and antibiotics donated by Bonnie’s vet, Dr. Gregg Linnell. She says: ” I am so amazed with his generosity. I love visiting the cats at the ranch while I am here so I can get my kitty fix while I am away from home.”
Thank you Bonnie and Dr. Linnell!!
Then Jennifer Warren and Bill Armstrong rolled in from Oklahoma with an AMAZING amount of kitty toys plus a soft carrier and bags of towels and bedding.
Torrential rains almost canceled their shelter visit but the sun finally came out and they headed to the ranch with a volunteer to say “Hola” to all THREE of their Virtually Adopted cats, who received lots of loving that day!
Thank you Bill & Jennifer!!
PuRR Volunteers
On January 19, a group of 10 PuRR volunteers headed out before dawn to assist Kerry Ward with his Corporate Explorer Training event being held at the Four Seasons in Punta Mita.
A group of several hundred EPICOR executives & spouses were tasked with building & racing cardboard boats that morning and everyone seemed to have lots of fun!
As a Thank You for being his “assistants,” Kerry donated $1,100 dollars into the Food for Felines fund at the shelter.
And yes…..the cardboard boats had to hold one crew member and many actually made it through the surf to the finish line!!!
