The Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection and Fire invites the youth of Banderas Bay to participate in the Summer Courses 2015 of 'My First Steps in Prevention' to be held from July 20 to August 7, Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Sergio Ramirez Lopez, head of the municipal agency, explained that this year there will be a limited quota of 250 participants who will be divided into five working groups according to their age. Each group will consist of 50 children between 8 and 16 years.

The course will have a total duration of 72 hours and include visits to the Playa Camarones, Civil Protection Department, and the Estero El Salado where activities will be carried about on water rescue, fire prevention, first aid and civil protection, among others.

The head of Civil Protection and Fire said that the development of these activities will also actively involve parents, so prior to the course there will be a coordination meeting. The volunteer firefighters along with parents will enable better management of groups.

The course will have a recovery fee of 250 pesos, which will be administered by a committee of parents, so that they are the ones who directly manage resources and not the institution. The money will go towards the purchase of a cap and shirt for each participant, payment of transport to the various locations and hydration of minors.

Registration opens today online at Bomberos Vallarta where parents can provide their children's data by following simple instructions and will receive course and regulations  responsive letter to be signed by the parents of each child.

Pre-registration is required for subsequent registration of the child, which will take place from 1 to 4 July and parents need to provide the fee, a signed copy of the rules and responsive letter (via web download), copy of the child's birth certificate, copy of proof of current address and two child-size recent photographs.
