Beginning on Thursday, the collection center was opened on the esplanade of DIF Vallarta, located at the former Regional Hospital (Paseo Las Palmas in Santa Maria Colony), and will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, telephone is (322) 225-9936.

David de la Rosa Flores, Director of DIF Vallarta, said 16 temporary shelters are ready to cater to just over 3,500 people throughout the city and, to date, has already supported 20 families affected by the recent rains.

The modules will be installed in the kiosks of the main squares for the convenience of those who wish to make their contributions.

In order to provide aid to those families who are going through critical times, it was stressed that contributions are needed including toiletries such as soap, razors, sanitary napkins, baby items like diapers, formula, baby food; nonperishable foods such as oats, rice, beans, bouillon cubes, sugar, flour and pasta; boxed milk and instant coffee.

The collection also includes bottled water, toilet paper, milk powder, medicine, clothing in good condition, blankets and furniture.

"I want to emphasize that we found, as expected, a strong desire to support and solidarity work of all institutions, the media and general public to support families going through a situation of vulnerability," said the official.

The official thanked the support given by the media for disseminating information to the public.
