July has arrived, and with it, summer vacation for students. Some have planned to spend time with their family or with friends.

We are a destination that welcomes many people, coming to enjoy our beaches and hospitality every year. I think it’s time for us to take the best vacation of our lives at home, a staycation. We need to take a break and recharge our batteries. The less busy summer season is an ideal time for the LGBT community to plan for the new season.

Let’s change our beach-going routine a bit, do as the locals, and take a trip up one of the rivers in the lush vegetation. There are many rivers near Vallarta where one can spend an incredible picnic day, then swimming to cool off in the clean refreshing water.

We could spend another day reading, which is truly a pleasure. It is sometimes complicated to take a moment for ourselves as life in this town can be very busy. The Los Mangos Library offers several options for your reading pleasure. You could borrow a book, either to take home or to read in their gardens in a relaxing atmosphere.

It is also a good opportunity to spend time at home, prepare some fresh fish or shrimp ceviche, with a salad and a refreshingly delicious drink.

An enjoyable night time walk along the malecon at the Marina, with friends or your significant other, looking at the docked boats, is a good way to escape from your daily routine and be a tourist in your city.

A good choice for this vacation would be to discover places, flavors and hidden corners in your own town. All you need is your imagination to give yourself, your significant other, or your group of friends an opportunity to share experiences in new ways.

Many people want to come to Vallarta to have fun. As we live here, we have 365 days to enjoy the beach, the clubs and different shopping choices. Let’s be tourists “at home.” Using your imagination the sky’s the limit, so prepare your itinerary and have a fabulous time on your staycation “at home” in our Puerto Vallarta.
