Seasons Greetings!
This Holiday Season The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort invites guests to create smiles for children in Mexico through an initiative we call Pack for PEACE.
All you have to do is use the extra space left in your luggage to bring a toy that will be donated to less fortunate children in the Punta Mita community via the PEACE Foundation.
The donations will be presented on Día de Reyes (Three Kings Day) one of the fondest traditions for kids in Mexico.
Three Kings Day is celebrated on the 12th day after Christmas, January 6, and is the traditional day for Mexican children to receive gifts.
Three Kings Day remains an important holiday for the people of Mexico. In addition to the gift-giving aspect of the day there is also a culinary treat that is specific to the holiday. Known as 'Rosca de Reyes' (King's Cake), this holiday dessert offers much in the way of symbolism. Shaped in the round to signify a king's crown, this sweet bread holds a special surprise. Baked inside is a small plastic figurine representing the baby Jesus. Whoever finds this token is obligated to host an upcoming party for the occasion of 'Dia de la Candelaria' (Candlemas Day) which occurs each year on February 2nd. The traditional fare is corn tamales.
We invite you to add your charity or supporting organizations' news stories and coming events to PVAngels so we can share them with the world. Do it now!
From activities like hiking, swimming, bike riding and yoga, to restaurants offering healthy menus, Vallarta-Nayarit is the ideal place to continue - or start - your healthy lifestyle routine.
