Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit are once again busy with a variety of Artisanal and Organic Farmers Markets, also known as Tianguis, which offer locals and tourists one more shopping option during the 2015-2016 winter season.

For the convenience of our readers, we have compiled a listing of the Tianguis Markets around Banderas Bay.

Monday

Not just another Farmer's Market, The Bucerias Gourmet Mexican Monday Market offers ONLY Mexican Specialties from the locals of Bucerias. If you are looking for frozen lasagna and beaded in America jewelry, this is not the place for you. All of the vendors are local Mexicans from Bucerias who wish to share the customs and culture of Mexico with you. The Bucerias Gourmet Mexican Monday Market is located at The Bucerias Art Walk Plaza, 62 Lazaro Cardenas and the doors open at 10:00 am till 2ish.

Rincón de Guayabitos Tianguis - Held at the Guayabitos Plaza from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm every Monday through March, 2016. Shop for Huichol Indian artwork, Oaxacan rugs, custom designed jewelry, pottery, linens, Talavera, glassware and a lot more.

Tuesday

Every Tuesday in Nuevo Vallarta you’ll find the Riviera Nayarit Farmers Market in full swing with more than 70 vendors in the parking lot of the Centro Empresarial (Paseo de los Cocoteros #55). Set in a large area, easy to walk around, free and easy parking. The market is open every Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to a little after noon, from November through April. You'll find clothing, food, flowers, fresh local produce, handcrafted items, candy, glassware and lots of items for gifts.

The Mercado del Sol in San Pancho (San Francisco) happens on Tuesdays at the Plaza del Sol. This is the third year for the market and currently hosts around 70 venders selling organic and handmade foods, arts, fruits and vegetables from the region, and of course live music entertainment to get you in the mood for shopping in the traditional open-air markets that are best experienced in Mexico. The market opens every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am until 2:00 pm through May, 2016.

Wednesday

Forever Spring Market in Bucerias - We are very pleased to be offering you the Wednesday market again this season and the location is 50 Lazaro Cardenas, opposite Sandrinas from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. We welcome you to join us every Wednesday through April, 2016. Our market includes a wide range of products including gourmet food, arts, crafts, leather, homewares, rugs, table cloths and runners and much more from your favourite vendors which will be for sale.

Thursday

Tianguis in La Penita - The Tianguis (open-air market) is held every Thursday from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm around the La Peñita Plaza. It is "the" place to shop for silver and handmade jewelry, tablecloths and linens, glassware, Talavera plates, Huichol Indian artwork and Oaxacan rugs. You will also find fresh fruits and veggies, homemade breads, and locally-produced honey and coffee beans. This is one of the largest and most well-known markets in the area. While the Tianguis continues year-round, many of the artisans do not participate during the summer months.

The Marina Vallarta Farmer's Market takes place on Thursday evening and begins around 5:00 and runs until around 10:00 pm on the Marina Vallarta Boardwalk. Stroll along by the docked boats for all types of merchandise including jewelry, clothing, woodworking, baked goods, souvenirs, lots of food and live music.

Friday

If you’re looking for something even more organic and natural, try the Mercado del Pueblo in Sayulita happening every Friday and now in the 7th season. We are so happy to be the inspiration for other markets and part of offering local, organic products in the Bahia de Banderas! Currently, the Mercado del Pueblo is located on calle Revolucion just north of the main bridge, across from Galeria Tanana and hosts nearly 80 vendors. In addition to providing natural, organic, and unique products, the Mercado has become a critical, weekly event that brings together friends, food, live music, and education to its residents and visitors. Join us in Sayulita every Friday through May at 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Marsol Market - Join us in the lobby of the Marsol Hotel from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. We'll be open every Friday for the 2015-2016 season through April, 2016. This year we have over 50 local vendors with specialty food, organic and gluten free products, pastries, bagels, bread, unique jewelry, art, crafts, clothing, leather, gifts, candles, home decor, massage, accessories, tours, mats and a lot more. The Marsol Hotel is located at Fca. Rodriguez 103 in Old Town Vallarta by the Los Muertos Pier.

You will be entertained by popular local musicians. Visitors are encouraged to support them by throwing some pesos in the tip jar or buying their CD's. The food court is always a delight with a delicious assortment of offers ranging from traditional Mexican foods, American and Thai favorites.

Three Hens & a Rooster Market - The fun, clean and friendly market at 466 V. Carranza in the Romantic Zone on the south side of town - only a block and a half from the small tunnel on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Three Hens and a Rooster offers all sorts of great items from their different vendors, arts, crafts and accessories, jewelry, women’s clothing, entrees to go, heavenly baked goods, the best tamales in town, handmade pirogies, homemade fresh sausages, essential oils, Mexican colorful and trendy bags, etc. Truly a family affair, with something for everyone.
