2016 is just around the corner and the Riviera Nayarit is signaling the start of the sailing season with the traditional Vallarta Cup Race Series. Over two-dozen boats will be competing in this friendly and very festive event.
The Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC) in Nuevo Vallarta will be hosting this series, which will include the participation of the other marinas in the region, including the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the Marina Vallarta.
Races start at noon every Saturday in January, with theme parties every evening. This year the activities will take place on January 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Because this is a friendly competition, the boats can participate in one or all the races.
The event falls under the aegis of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), whose synergy with the VYC has driven many a grand event. This year the spotlight is on sailing, as both the Riviera Nayarit and the VYC will host the 2016 Laser World Championship in April and May.
