Former Liz Taylor/Richard Burton Home Is Now the Coolest New Hotel in Puerto Vallarta Lilit Marcus - Conde Nast Traveler

When Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor bought a home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in the 1960s, it was a sleepy, off-the-radar hamlet — nothing like the popular resort town it is today.

For better or for worse, the world's most famous couple put Puerto Vallarta on the tourism map, and now their former home, Casa Kimberly, has been converted into an elegant nine-suite boutique hotel of the same name.

Understandably, the property pays homage to its famous former residents. The highest-end accommodation, the Elizabeth Taylor Suite, features a Swarovski crystal chandelier and the pink heart-shaped marble bathtub that Taylor specially commissioned for the property. (Fun fact: it's shaped like a human heart, not like a Valentine heart.)

Meanwhile, the Cleopatra Suite, named for the film that brought Burton and Taylor together, has a private patio with a sunken hot tub and sweeping views over Banderas Bay.

The hotel's restaurant, Iguana, is named for The Night of the Iguana, which Burton filmed in town. All rooms have Taylor-worthy Bulgari bath products, and the blue-tiled pool that the actors swam in has remained intact.
