After our brief holiday recess, on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017 Connect With Mexico will meet again at ArtVallARTa.

This time we'll debate Mexican millionaires and how a poor country can be home to so many immense fortunes.

Of all the world’s billionaires, why would President-elect Donald Trump welcome one from Mexico to his Florida mansion? What are the interests, hobbies, success stories, and terrible habits of these “filthy rich” men and women? In which ways do the wealthy of Mexico influence politics, society, traditions, consumer spending, and even inflation?

One thing is for sure; we’ll have a lot of fun and discover a couple of secrets as we take a peek into these Mexicans’ very deep pockets.

Here are our topics for all of January:

Tuesday, January 10, 2017 - THE OWNERS OF MEXICO: Millions of poor Mexicans share this country with a few millionaires. Look into the wallets, and interests, of the businessmen who rule Mexico. Why are they so rich? Why does Donald Trump mention one so often? Do they share their wealth? What about their politics? Come and find out!

Tuesday, January 17, 2017 - MEXICAN SCANDALS: From politics to social media to show business there’s plenty of gossip and scandal in Mexican society. Join us to discover the governors who “took it all” amid corruption scandals. How can a music producer lead a prostitution ring? And discover why kingpins have such good friends in high places.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017 - MEXICAN MURALISM: What better way to tell Mexico’s story than with beautiful paintings on its many public buildings? Find out who commissioned these huge works of art, why they’re so relevant to the country, and why even the Rockefellers were in love with them.

Tuesday, January 31, 2017 - “LA CHINGADA Y EL CHINGÓN”: The word “chingar” defines what it is to be Mexican. Come get some answers about this funny word you hear from Mexicans of all social classes. Where did it come from? How is it used? What should you feel if the dreaded word reaches your ears?

Join us every Tuesday from 10:30 until Noon at ART VallARTa located at 213 Calle Pilitas in Vallarta's Romantic Zone.
