The 4th annual Music & Arts Festival arrives on March 9-12, a free celebration of music, art and film for Chacala and the region.

As you know, it is free to the public thanks to the support of donors, concert goers and art lovers, as the Chacala Cultural Foundation supports education and performance throughout the year for the children and by the children.

In a growing program developed by volunteers to bring more fine art to our area, artists have been invited to attend Residencies in Chacala. Many of them have provided drawing and printing workshops for children in Chacala, Las Varas and El Paso de Las Palmas, as well as art and photography for adults.

Five different schools are actively participating in the Music & Arts Festival as well as the Science Museum from Tepic who are bringing down science activities for the children during the Festival performances. Other schools have been personally invited to bring their students to these events full of entertainment and learning.

The mission of the Chacala Cultural Foundation is to promote and encourage the cultural experience in and around the Village of Chacala, and along the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico. This includes, but is not limited to education and performance in the arts, music, dance and theater. To encourage the learning and enjoyment of such cultural experiences by creating a positive and lasting impression for all involved.

Chacala is a picturesque beach-town set in small cove on the Pacific coast of Mexico in the State of Nayarit.

It is located about 100 kilometers (62 mi) north of Puerto Vallarta. The name means “where there are shrimp” in Nahuatl, and is part of the coastline known as the Riviera Nayarit. The population consists of approximately 300 full-time residents, but can swell to over 1000 during Mexico’s most popular vacation periods such as Semana Santa, (Easter Week) and Christmas.

Chacala is known for its physical beauty, unhurried lifestyle, and friendly people.

If you need a place to stay, please check out and patronize our commercial sponsors.

We hope to see you in Chacala for four days and nights of magical music and arts for a great cause.
