Puerto Vallarta started the holiday period of Easter premiering a new Malecon (Boardwalk), a dignified space that opened last Friday and was attended by Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña in Boca de Tomatlán, just south of Puerto Vallarta.

With an investment of over 8 million pesos, the work was carried out in two stages. "Today is a fiesta for Boca de Tomatlan and all of Puerto Vallarta. We are very happy, we are premiering a new levee that will be a meeting point between the local community and tourists looking to enjoy the natural beauty of our destination," said the Mayor in his message.

He stressed the support of the Federal Government, through Zofemat (Federal Maritime Zone) in providing resources for this new attraction making this a reality and thus continuing the transformation of this municipal agency, thanks to the support of many people, and that will additionally benefit the neighboring area of Cabo Corrientes as it is the embarkation point to the places south of the Bay.

"Today Puerto Vallarta lives one of their best times in terms of tourism, but we are optimistic in the continuance of improvement. There is still a long way to go, much more work to do and commitments to meet, so I repeat my conviction of service with Puerto Vallarta and with the town of Boca de Tomatlán, with fishermen and traders, to move forward together and build the port we desire," said the Mayor.

The Director of Public Works, Oscar Castellon Rodriguez, explained that in the first stage a retaining wall of stone was built of almost 65 cubic meters with a storm drain, a concrete slab of 1,142 square meters, 43 meters of rockfill and workspace of almost 1,500 square meters, as well as 32 parking spaces.

In the second stage, public restrooms were built as well as sidewalks, curbing and water sanitation infrastructure. Twenty benches were added along with trash containers, solar lighting and 34 trees.

The President of the Ejido of Boca de Tomatlan and Mismaloya, Adolfo Robles, thanked Arturo Dávalos that under his Government works were created that had been requested for many years. "Now Boca de Tomatlan has more achievements and more tourists thanks to its administration. Here we all feel proud." he stressed.

The Director of Social Development, Diego Franco, stressed that this work was achieved thanks to the consensus between different instances and the willingness of many people resulting in the collective benefit.

Also present at the event were President of the DIF system, Candelaria Tovar de Dávalos; the municipal officials Juan José Cuevas, Bellanni Fong, Eduardo Martínez, Homero Maldonado and Gilberto Lorenzo, as well as Julio Cesar Juarez Ruiz, Coordinator of the Department of Coastal Zones; Jorge Martínez, Coordinator of this sector and Felipa Aguilar Gonzalez, municipal agent; not to mention the hundreds of delighted locals and tourists.
