Commander’s Comments

Wow – the Independence Day Celebration at the Post had a great turnout! Not only did most of the local members show up – we had over a dozen additional guests. We even got two applications for new members! Yay! I’d like to thank everybody that participated and also give a big THANKS to Carla for taking care of the food and drink – her standard Great Job!

DONATIONS requested for Banderas Bay Woman’s Shelter

David Zude, the director of the Banderas Bay Woman’s Shelter will be talking to us at our General Membership Meeting in AUGUST. That meeting will be held at Murphy’s Irish Pub in downtown PV. They are always looking for help – in many ways. I would ask you to bring either food items or clothing to the meeting. They are always in need of underwear for the women AND THEIR CHILDREN. They also need other clothing for boys and girls. New or used – they are happy with anything. PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO BRING SOMETHING FOR THEM TO THE MEETING. If you can’t bring something to the meeting – or have too much to bring – please contact me and I will put you in touch with David to arrange a pick up. Please email J. R. Wilson at JRinMX@gmail.com.

Community Gardens

Recently, Post 14 member – Chancey Addison suggested that he thought it would be a good idea if the Post helped initiate a series of vegetable gardens around the area. There are a lot of “up sides” to this idea and very few “down sides.” We would like your comments. Please email J. R. Wilson at JRinMX@gmail.com with your thoughts.

Carla’s Kitchen

A REMINDER - Vets (and other expats) often run out of cash and/or food by the end of the month. Many stop in to Steve’s Sports Bar and ask Carla for help – whether it be for a burger or a few pesos. Carla helps them whenever she can. She maintains a small warehouse of extra food for these folks. SO, the next time you are at the grocery store, Sam’s, or Costco – grab some extra food and drop it off at Steve’s. Carla will see that it goes to those in need. Thanks in advance for helping your fellow vets!
