Mexico Lifts the Winning Trophy in 'Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup' Beach Soccer

Facing a crowded stadium and hundreds of Puerto Vallartans hoping to be part of the great beach soccer sports party, the "Puerto Vallarta Cup 2017" concluded on Sunday in which the Mexican national team lifted the cup as the absolute champion after receiving it from the hands of the Mayor, Arturo Dávalos Peña.

On this third day of competition, the emotion was felt in all its splendor during the last games that minute by minute raised cheers and applause among the attendees.

A fierce match was the one that was disputed between the selectives of Mexico and the United States, in a fought competition that finished with 5 goals to 4 in favor of the national team, closing with finishing of this international competition that gave the triumph to Mexico.

The Mayor of Vallarta was in charge of rewarding the delivery and effort of the Mexican beach soccer team and their coach Ramon Raya with the first place trophy, and shared with them the excitement of this great triumph. He also awarded the women's beach soccer champions of this tournament, being the selection of Spain the creditor to this title. The United States finished as runner-up of this cup.

The Best Player award went to Angel David Rodriguez, captain of the Mexican national team, who also won the prize as top scorer of the tournament alongside American Nick Perera. Diego Villaseñor of Mexico was crowned Best Goalkeeper.

The coach of the national team, Ramon Raya, gave the mayor a pennant autographed by the whole team, as well as an official shirt and a present, grateful for the host.

The response of the Vallartans to this tournament exceeded all expectations, as well as filling the stadium during the three days of competition, crowding the entrance to this space keeping great order on the last day waiting to be part of this sporting event.

Mayor Arturo Dávalos explained that thanks to the good participation of vallartans and visitors and the realization of this cup, now the proposal is to bring to Puerto Vallarta a Beach Soccer World Cup, a proposal taken by FIFA, the Federación Mexicana de Futbol and the organizers. "They are delighted with the work that was done, the organization, with the participation of the people, with the facilities that were given, with the Puerto Vallarta Trust, with the City Hall, with all the hoteliers and restaurateurs who were participating and supporting this event."

The awards of this tournament was attended by Humberto Carrera, executive director of MMC Multimedia; Lucía Mijares, Director of Development of the Mexican Football Federation; Josep Ponset, Director of Beach Soccer Worldwide Competition; and Ramón González Lomeli, director of Municipal Tourism.
