Grand Finale For The 5th International La Cruz Fishing Tournament Marc Murphy - Riviera Nayarit CVB

It was certainly a grand finale on Saturday October 21st for the 5th International La Cruz Fishing Tournament — in fact, one of the winning catches literally came in just a few minutes before the end. The event took place in the Marina Riviera Nayarit with the winning boats “Animal House,” “Martuni,” “Fish Store,” and “Giselle.”

To the tune of mariachi music adding to the festive ambiance, the awards ceremony was led by the president of the board of the Tepic Sport Fishing Club, Miguel Angel Sierra Quintana, who said he was pleased by the number of participants and the good vibes experienced during the tournament.

He also thanked the three levels of Government and their entities: Semarnat, the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Municipal Tourism Board, the State Secretariat of Public Safety (SSPE), and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) for the facilities offered that contributed to the success of the event.

“There’s no doubt it was a magnificent tournament — we had a good number of participants and great fishing during the three days of the event; I’d like to thank all the people who participated: Antonio Echevarria Garcia, governor of the state of Nayarit; the municipality of Bahia de Banderas; and, of course, the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau for facilitating everything for the realization of this event, which was a resounding success,” he said.

After expressing his appreciation, he opened the 2018 invitation to the historic Port of San Blas, the venue for the 58th International San Blas Fishing Tournament, which will take place at the Marina Fonatur.

They also handed out special awards to the captains of the winning boats, and there was a raffle for gifts and prizes for those teams that failed to bring in a catch, including a 2018 March Active automobile.

There were a total of four 2018 Nissan Versa and 2018 March Active cars given away, plus four quads and commemorative trophies for the winning teams.

1st Place: “Animal House,” The Texas Tornados |Weight: 249.800 kg.
2nd Place: “Nicky Pau” |Weight: 172.200 kg.
3rd Place: “Marla II” from Barra de Navidad |Weight: 169.200 kg.

1st Place: “Martuni” |Weight: 78.800 Kg. (Only one tuna passed the weight test.)
 
SAILFISH
1st Place: “Fish Store” |Weight: 30.400 kg.
2nd Place: “Cindy” |Weight: 28.600 kg.
3rd Place: “Animal House” |Weight: 29.400 kg.
 
MAHI MAHI
1st Place: “Giselle” |Weight: 14.00 kg
2nd Place: “Giselle” |Weight: 12.600 kg.
3rd Place: “Miss Adventure” |Weight: 11.200 kg.
