A big hello to everyone and a special hello to those returning for the ‘high season’! The summer has zipped by and we will soon be in the whirlwind of the next few months. Animo! We have so much going on in October.
 
CLINICS:

Our monthly clinics are screening clinics. These are at a discounted price from a regular consult, only on the set dates and fill quickly. No procedures are performed at the clinics (if abnormality is found). If you would like to participate, please send an email stating the name of the person. We try to accommodate time requests as much as we can but it is not always possible. You will receive an acknowledgement of your request and then later, a very detailed email with complete instructions, directions, etc.  
 
Mammogram Clinic - October 19 and October 26, 2018 - 2,100 pesos – PLUS Members pay 2,000 pesos. Includes a 2D digital mammogram with state of the art, tomosynthesis machine, (the only one in the area) using low-radiation and low pressure technique, breast ultrasound (if deemed necessary), a manual exam and a complete review and explanation of your films. These are performed by a breast specialist and an oncologist.
 
Ear Clinic - October 15, 2018 – Puerto Vallarta, October 18, 2018 - Bucerias 425 pesos – PLUS members pay 375 pesos These clinics are performed by an ENT who will check inside your ears and clean if necessary. Note: This is NOT a hearing test! We do have a wonderful audiologist if you need a hearing test! For information on this, please send me a request. She is great and comes once per month from the United States.  
 
Foot Clinic - October 18, 2018 – Bucerias, October 24, 2018 – Puerto Vallarta - 300 pesos – PLUS members pay 250 pesos Have a complete evaluation of your feet and toes by our foot specialist. Check for fungus, corns, and bunions – the works! Our feet take a beating on the cobblestones here. ***BONUS*** All participants in the Foot Clinic have the opportunity to have a wonderful Medical Pedicure the day of the clinic at the cost of 100 pesos! (Regular price: 300 pesos).
 
Skin Clinic - October 18 and October 25, 2018 - 350 pesos – PLUS members pay 325 pesos. This is a skin cancer screening check by an oncologist (not by a dermatologist). He checks from your scalp all the way to the bottoms of your feet. These clinics fill quickly.   
 
Vascular Clinic - October 19, 2018 - 400 pesos – PLUS members pay 350 pesos Our Vascular specialist will evaluate your blood flow, varicose veins, and your risk factors for vascular disease. You will receive a report with recommendations.   
 
Eye Clinic - October 22, 2018 - 425 pesos – PLUS members pay 400 pesos Vision exam, pressure test for glaucoma, exam and evaluation by an ophthalmologist.
 
Men’s Urology Clinic - October 23, 2018 - 700 pesos – PLUS members pay 650 pesos. Includes consult/interview with our urologist, ultrasound of kidneys, bladder and prostate, measurement of residual urine. We recommend prior to your appointment a PSA and Urinalysis and we offer these at a discounted price.
 
Cardiac Clinic - October 24, 2018 - We have one clinic at CMQ in Bucerias and one in Puerto Vallarta Price: 650 pesos - PLUS members pay 600 pesos. Includes consult/interview with a cardiologist, EKG, Blood Pressure check. We recommend that prior to your appointment, you have a cholesterol profile and we are offering this at a discounted price. (This is an amazing savings – outside of our  
Clinic, the price for this is 1,200 pesos).
 
Women’s Clinic - October 29, 2018 - Option #1: Price: 775 pesos – PLUS members pay 690 pesos. Includes consult, Pap smear, pelvic exam by a female GYN. Option #2: Price: 1,000 pesos – PLUS members pay 900 pesos Includes consult, Pap smear, pelvic exam and trans-vaginal ultrasound by a female GYN.
 
Thyroid Clinic - October 30, 2018 - 450 pesos – PLUS members pay 400 pesos. Includes consult/interview with our endocrinologist. We highly recommend a thyroid profile (lab study) prior to the appointment. We offer this at a discounted price.
 
We do not sell insurance but we do work with several reputable agents for both traveler’s insurance policies and full time policies, both Mexican (private) policies and international. It is so very important that one understands how insurance works here in the area! I have a very detailed email with a lot of information that I am happy to send to you. If you would like a copy or have specific questions please let me know. Be prepared! Do your homework!  
 
Healthcare Resources PLUS Program
 
What is the program? We created the PLUS program many years ago. This is a ‘membership’ program (and I use this term loosely) which offers discounts to a wide variety of health services, a personal medical record and much more. I am embarrassed to say that (as with our website) I am so far behind in updating things. One can go to our website at: www.healthcareresourcespv.com  (in the process of re-doing this too!), and click on the PLUS page. There, you will still see the OLD chart of benefits and prices. If you would like to ‘join’ at the current prices, you can do that before the end of this month. If you are not in the area at this time, no worries as we begin your start date when you return to the area. PayPal or we can get together. It is imperative that one understands, one does NOT need to be a PLUS member to receive our services! We are available for everyone! This just adds a few perks to things! For further questions, just send me an email!
 
Are you new to the area? Do you have very specific health issues? I am more than happy to schedule a time to sit down and have a chat. Let’s put together a personalized health plan for you. Many questions can be answered via email but sometimes it is easier to meet in person. Just let me know!
 
We do whatever we can to assist patients at the Regional Hospital (public hospital) with all types of supplies. Newborn items, medical supplies, hotel sized shampoos, soaps for hygiene kits. Every single item is so very much appreciated! As well, we provide on the first of each month, food staples (set items) for our Kids with Cancer and their families (17 in total). If you are able to assist and would like further information, please let me know. I also have our standard “Wish List”.  
 
And on the topic of ‘giving’, we oftentimes need volunteers for a variety of items, from visiting a patient in the hospital to putting together items for one of our programs. If you would like to participate, we will have an organizational meeting soon so please let me know if you would like to participate! Thank you!
 
Vaccines: Vaccines are a very personal decision! We have numerous requests for this year’s flu vaccine. They have not yet arrived and we are hearing it will be towards the end of October. Flu vaccines are free at the Salud (Health Department). Many vaccines are not easy to obtain here. If you are looking for a specific vaccine, let us know.
 
Our Physicians: We work with 25 physicians of all specialties. They are board-certified in their specialty, honest, bilingual and highly experienced. We have specialists covering everything from stem cells to bioidentical hormones, endocrinology to immune disease, physical therapy to incontinence and everything in between. For specific questions, please let me know.
 
When was your last complete physical? We have both a Men’s and Women’s Check-up at an economical price that includes a follow up consult with a bilingual GP. For details, please email me.
