Eighth Annual Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off Needs Volunteers Jim Sullivan - PV Chili Cook-Off | |
January 23, 2020 |
Greetings to all our Chili Cook-Off friends. We're about a month away away from the big event. The Chili Zone is filling up with repeat and brand new chili sponsors.
The Annual Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for February 22nd at Parque Parota (Hotel Zona Norte) in Puerto Vallarta. This Chili Cook Off fundraiser was previously held at El Rio Bar BBQ on the River Cuale. Kurt Sinner, owner of the El Rio BBQ, has done a great job in promoting the Chili Cook Off over the past 7 years. The growth in attendance from 2018 to 2019 was so successful that PV Chili Cook-Off Host Committee Chairman Jim Sullivan decided it was time to look for another venue.
Parque Parota’s large open space will let us welcome even more attendees, more chili vendors each with more space, allow faster lines (for chili and beer), more activities, more vendors, more bands, etc. Pre-sale tickets may be purchased now online at PV Chili Cook-Off Tickets or at many participating bars/restaurants.
Demonstrating their continuing commitment to the Cook-Off and to the Jay Sadler Project, Hollis, Head BBQ Chef at the El Rio BBQ, will be one of the Cook-Off judges. Keep up with the latest news about the Cook-Off online at PV Chili Cook-Off and on our Facebook page.
Continuing our series of Featured Vendors this month we focus on Pescadito, who will be providing fish tacos and much more at the event.
Moving the Cook-Off to Parque Parota, and holding a much-expanded event, requires a lot of planning and in some cases early cash expenditures. So we are raising funds with a "Pre Sale" of Cook-Off tickets at the reduced price of 250 pesos. Be an "early-bird" and save big.
If you have friends and/or relatives that might be interested in our newsletter and the Cook-Off, please forward this edition to them. Anyone interested in volunteering at the 2020 Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off should visit us at PV Chili Cook-Off and fill out the form. We'll be in touch.
Why Buy Your Tickets Early
As you can see from the in-progress floor plan below we have planned quite a few new initiatives for attendees at the 2020 Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off. New vendors, plenty of beverage and food options, up to 28 chili tasting/voting booths (60% reserved as of January 1. See the shaded booths) with the best chili Puerto Vallarta has to offer, our very own Beer Gardens - with a second location just added - and the main stage with great local entertainment. And remember 100% of all revenues from the Cook-Off go to support the Jay Sadler Project, a Jalisco based non-profit organization.
Putting together an event such as this requires a dedicated team of volunteers and considerable in-advance planning and expenditures. Purchasing your tickets early gives us a bit of cash flow to handle the everyday cost of putting on the largest Chili Cook-Off we've ever done.
In addition, purchasing your ticket online now or at one of our participating bars and restaurants:
1. Saves you money. Remember the cost of a ticket at the box-office the day of the event will be 300 (pesos, of course).
2. Earns Early Entrance. Having your ticket in hand lets you get into the event at 11:30 am, 30 minutes ahead of those that are buying at the gate.

If you are one of our loyal Chili Sponsors from the past few years and have not yet signed up for 2020 please check out the floor plan above and pick your booth. There are a lot of choice spots remaining at Parque Parota. Actually, there are no bad spaces: although we give each chili sponsor their own 3m x 3m booth the overall space is compact enough that attendees will visit all the vendors. We continue to sign new restaurants and we do not want our loyal past participants to miss out - but when we hit 30 we will be full.
If you would like to enter your chili email me directly at jim@PVChiliCookoff.com. I will send you all the forms and information you'll need.
Non-Chili Vendors Welcomed to Exhibit in 2020
One of the many great things about being at Parque Parota is the ability to add in a variety of interesting vendors that will appeal to the huge audience of attendees forecast for the 2020 event.
Exhibit space is open to a wide assortment of businesses including Hotels, Restaurants, Tour Operators, Retailers, Health Products, Arts and Crafts, Airlines, Furniture Dealers, Vehicle Sales, Real Estate, Ground Transportation (Bus, Uber, Taxi), Language Schools, among other categories. The soda and alcoholic beverages categories are filled, but an Agua Fresca vendor would do quite well.
The available spots are marked on the floor plan as "Vendor Booths" are numbered 1-8. Three of the original eight are now taken. Once we fill the remaining five, others might be made available (depending on available space).
Exhibitors from the wellness industry (Reviv Vallarta), and the food category (Cacao Magico, PV Cupcakes and Helartesano Ice Cream) have come on board. There are two pricing approaches depending on whether or not you will be selling on-site or simply promoting your products and services. If you wish to sell products at the event, download the forms below but also contact us directly about special pricing. There's even a FREE option that you may qualify for. Just ask.
More information on the Vendor Booth Program may be downloaded here in Spanish and here in English.
