Help Us Feed the Families of Puerto Vallarta

Dear friends and family,

We are asking for help after months of trying to help alone.

For the past two and half months the beautiful locals in Puerto Vallarta have been unable to work. I know it's also the same in the states. The difference here is that for many families, when they go to work each day, the wages they earn that day buys the food they will eat for just that day. Many families have been going without, or with very little for weeks, and now months.

Rebecca and I have been able to pay our local mercado to put together enough food for 40 families each week. The mercado would then deliver the groceries to the hungry families. We have been doing this for about 8 weeks.

Just recently we moved from a secluded home in Puerto Vallarta into a house right in the middle of a colonia (mexican neighborhood). Immediately we realized how great the needs really are here in Puerto Vallarta. This city is dependent on tourism and now there is no one.

Today we were able to put together 20 emergency bags of groceries just for the people in our new neighborhood. God is so good and has somehow kept us able to pay our bills and help to feed the people but now we feel the need is greater and worth putting out the call for help. Today we spoke to Maria, a grandmother of four young children whose mother died. Her and her husband ran a taco stand for the tourists but are unable to do so now. They are hungry, hurting and desperate. We were able to bring them food that will last around 7 days. But after that she will need more. And so will the other beautiful families.

Please, if you feel that you can give, even just a few dollars, please consider it. Every bit will help. We have been able to put together bags of food for around $10 - $12 each that should last a family of 4 about a week if they are careful.

They include - Beans, rice, oats, pasta, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, onions, carrots, oranges, bananas, chayote, mangos, and oil. Each bag weighs around 30 lbs.

The funds raised will go solely to purchase food. The funds will be used each week on an ongoing basis as the needs continue or until the tourists come back.

The mercado has taken cell phone pictures and we will be able to get those to share with you. And also some new photos so that you can see what your donations are doing. Thank you so much for considering this cause. We hope that you and your loved ones are doing well. We thank you for your love and support of us in another country, and for all your prayers. They mean so much to us.
