New Soup Kitchen to Feed the Hungry Opened by Vallarta Food Bank

We finally did it! We started our own soup kitchen at Vallarta Food Bank. This has always been part of our plan for the food bank, but it had to wait until our permanent location was ready. It’s perfect timing because some of our friends’ soup kitchens are closing down after months of tirelessly serving the community. We are ready to help.

We’ve been very busy in the past few months making & distributing over 40,000 despensas (food packages), donating food to other soup kitchens & non-profit organizations, procuring much needed medical supplies for some of the families, fixing up and moving into our new home, and continuing our fundraisers. It’s a lot of hard work, but so rewarding to be able to help this beautiful community. Some of the stories we encountered along the way are heartbreaking, and sometimes we wish we could do more. But what we can do is to stay committed to serve this community every single day. We’ve been feeding this community over 130 days now, and we will be here as long as needed.
Our work is 100% volunteer based, and our large group of kindhearted volunteers are the best people we have ever met. But all of this work would be impossible without the generosity of the donors & supporters. We are so grateful for every single donation that comes our way. It really makes a big difference in a family’s life to receive a despensa with enough staple food for the week.

Having excellent working relationship with our suppliers and buying tons and tons of food each week really helped drive our costs down. For only 130 pesos, we can feed a small family for a week. Please consider donating to help the families of Puerto Vallarta. 95% of your donations will go toward food.

Our new location is at Río Lérma 468, Col. López Mateos, Pto. Vallarta.
